🎧 New Episode with Jon Berg

🎧New podcast episode For this week’s show we are welcoming my good friend, Hollywood producer Jon Berg. Jon is the current President of Production at Stampede Ventures, a former studio head at Warner Bros and a creative force behind legendary films such as Elf, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Justice League, Edge of Tomorrow and the Dark Knight Rises.

Jon and I met several years ago through our kids’ school and became fast friends. Most of the time we hangout we’re either in Dad mode or attempting to play one sport or another but somehow we always end up in some kind of fascinating discussion. I had a feeling this would be a good episode but when Jon spontaneously busted out his version of the Bane accent, I knew we struck podcast gold. In this really fun conversation, we discuss everything from the writers’ strike, to evolving business dynamics in Hollywood, to what it takes to be a producer, the art of storytelling, the greatest superhero movie of all time and much, much more.

I wanted to have Jon on the show because: 1. Who doesn’t love movies! and 2. There’s an incredible story here. Jon is a person who literally started from the absolute bottom—working menial odd jobs in the mailroom and as a messenger—and managed to rise to the heights of Hollywood, arguably the most competitive industry in the world.

While Hollywood often presents as this opaque world of glitz and glam, power, and big money, at its core are a bunch of passionate, creative individuals, like Jon, who just love movies and stories. As I listened to him describe what it’s like to be on set with a director like Christopher Nolan or sit in a theatre watching an audience love a movie he helped create, I thought to myself, “here’s a person who’s doing exactly what he was born to do in life.”

Jon’s story reveals an important truth about success. Amazing things can happen when you do what you feel called to do. What we can learn from Jon’s story is that if you have a dream and you couple that with some hard work, resourcefulness, creativity, and grit, you can turn a passion into a career.

As always, thanks for tuning in. Hope you enjoy.
