馃帶 New Episode with Afam Onyema
馃帶New podcast episode This week we are welcoming Afam Onyema, a co-founder and of the CEO of the GEANCO Foundation, an organization saving and transforming lives in Africa. Afam and I crossed paths briefly back in our Stanford days but only recently reconnected. As we were catching-up one day over coffee and I learned what he鈥檚 been up to all these years, I knew instantly I had to have him on the show.
What you are about to hear is one of the most inspiring discussions I鈥檝e ever had. Afam is someone who decided at a young age to forego the traditional pathways of modern success, giving up a promising career in the law to pursue a path of service. He stands out as one of those rare individuals who felt the call and then actually answered it!
In this episode, you鈥檒l learn:
路 How Afam evolved from Harvard football star to promising corporate lawyer
to the co-founder and leader of a start-up foundation
路 How Afam used the entrepreneurial toolkit鈥攖he same thing many of his
Harvard and Stanford contemporaries were using to try to get rich鈥攁nd
applied it to the non-profit world with astounding success
路 Why it鈥檚 important as a leader to focus on relationships rather than
being transactional
路 How Afam managed to recruit Stanford alumni, Hollywood executives,
and big-time celebrities to support his foundation
路 Why Afam feels so motivated to do this work
路 & Much, much more.
While there鈥檚 so much to take away here, what stands out for me is this: the path of selfless service鈥擜fam鈥檚 path鈥攃an be an incredibly rewarding path. As you鈥檒l hear in this episode, some truly amazing things can happen when you orient yourself and your work around a noble, selfless mission.
Hope you all enjoy this inspiring conversation.
